Raising a daughter…it’s about to kill me!

So my daughter got suspended from school for three days. Yeah me…now I get the joy and job of finding stuff to do around the house, go pick up her work from the school that suspended her and worry because she is at home by herself with no cell phone because of course I had to punish her and take the damn cell phone! I really don’t get the whole suspended from school thing.  You are gonna take a kid from school where she is supposed to be learning and send her home to do nothing!.  Kids can think of a lot of bad things to do while bored!

I’m not claiming my kid is perfect in any way, shape or form but she is an A -B student, liked by teachers and her peers.  She is in middle school and from our neighborhood knows a lot of middle and high school students. She has gotten into trouble at school for talking, laughing and being on her phone.  That’s it!

But not now….she made a video and called a girl a HO. She only said the girls first name only.  I am not saying what she did was ok because it wasn’t right.. AT ALL!!!!! However, I do not feel that two days in ISS and three days being suspended from school is fair.  I believe it is excessive.  They said it violated their bullying code.  I get it! I would not want someone calling my daughter a HO and I would be upset but the punishment does not fit the crime nor the person.  I know there are rules and policies set up to help and/or protect the school and the students but it has now gotten out of hand and they dole out punishment on whomever according to the policies only!! They do not take into consideration the person, who they are, what they contribute, are they good students, are they hanging around certain people who get in trouble. Who are they?

They never considered those things when they disciplined my daughter and now she is paying a steep price for something very stupid.   How about taking to her? Having her talk to the other student.  Making her write and essay on bullying or Ho’s…lol

I just feel the punishment does not fit the crime.  I know people have millions of different opinions on the matter and mine is just one of a mom trying her best to raise a woman!

So I guess now we will speak of the incident where she was bullied by a teacher…yes…an adult teacher said to my daughter…”not a very good choice in food for type 1 diabetes”.  Three other students heard him say it.  (She was eating potato chips) Can you believe it?  I couldn’t !! where is the school policy code for that one? What was his punishment? yes, it was a man saying this to a girl! I have no idea what punishment was bestowed upon him because the school said they handled it.  I as a parent am not privy to human resource information at the school district level.  WOW!  This truly broke my heart when it happened.  In return for weeks afterwards she wanted to go on a diet, she wanted to joint a gym, she did not eat dinner for two nights in a row.  I struggled with this so I can only imagine what was going on in her mind.

Gotta go but I am sure you are tired of reading a heartbroken mom!

Peace out !
