You don’t ever put your hands on someone! No reason to!
Do the words hurt? Maybe if it’s coming from a person you love and respect but not a total stranger.
I can say “you are ugly” to someone and it can mean a million different things from the way I say to where I say it. But do the words really cause you enough anger to put your hands on me….no, the answer is always NO!

However, I also believe that if someone puts hands on you first then you have every right to defend yourself and get out of harms way!
